Birthright Salon is a series of roving Shabbat dinners that gather people together to bring in light, break bread and create joyful community over Jewish-minded culture, politics, and spirituality with special guests who share their innovations and thought leadership in these arenas.

Dinners take place during shabbat or havdalah at different locations within the same city four to six times a year. 100 percent of the $3600 membership fee proceeds to the Taglit Birthright Israel Foundation and is tax deductible.

Taglit, the word translates as “insight,” has been sponsoring young Jewish people around the world on all expense paid experiences in Israel. To date the Foundation has hosted 650,000 visitors who, according to longitudinal studies by Brandeis University, return to their home countries with enduring “insights” into their Jewish identity and values, and carry these forward in their personal, professional and creative endeavors.

The purpose of Shabbat Salon is two-fold. Raise funds to sponsor one bus load (40 young people including the Israeli soldiers who accompany and participate in the trip) per year. And create ongoing “taglit” or discovery for its adult members who find joy in fostering learning, celebration and support of their Judaism.

The project is being inaugurated in Los Angeles in Fall of 2019 and we are currently seeking Founding Members to join Alexandra Loew and Kimberly Brooks for a fall 2019 beta kick off. The next incarnation of the program will be in NY, and communities beyond.
